AVON YOUTH LEAGUE U’15 DIV 3

SUN 12 NOV 06

FRY CLUB COLTS 4

FRAMPTON   2

For the second successive home game we found ourselves playing in the paddock on pitch 4 which gives us plenty of width to play our style of football. With a full squad to select from we had the ideal opportunity to remain top of Div 3.

Again we started very strong with both Danny McCarthy and Oli Randall dominating the midfield. Two good early corners tested the Frampton defence and from the third deep corner from Mo Boaziz, James Boulton powered in a great header to put us 1-0 up. Unfortunately we were forced to make an early change as Michael Payne went off ill but we remained very strong in defence as Nathan Dawson slotted in, supported by Kyle Curtis. Both James Boulton and James Hurrell Smith were also playing well although one lapse of concentration allowed Frampton a shot which cannoned back into play off the underside of the crossbar. We were now looking very effective in attack and soon it was 2-0 as Captain Oli Randall found himself in space and from 25 yards found the top corner. Both Dean Lapham and Kyle Curtis were very involved down both wings supporting our midfield and strikers effectively which produced further half chances for our Forwards Brad Monelle and Mo Bouaziz. At half time though we were well on top and 2-0 up.

Early in the second half the game was put almost beyond Frampton as Brad Monelle unleased a great strike into the top corner which apparently broke the net! (In fact there was a hole in the top corner!) By now Craig Andrews was coming alive and time after time in the second half he took the game to Framptons defence with 4 powerful runs and was unlucky not to score. Frampton pulled a goal back half way into the second half to give them some hope but Brad Monelle had other ideas and he bagged a second and our 4th with a stunning thunderbolt which hit the back stanchion and back out which a few of us thought hadn’t gone in! It was probably the cleanest and strongest strike he has scored from and the 3 points were ours. Two further chances were cancelled out from the linesmans flag and Brad was also denied his hat trick with a great save from the Frampton keeper who also kept out a Craig Andrews header from point blank and the follow up from Jordan Knight. Frampton did pull a second back but we thoroughly deserved the 3 points with another great team display.

There were some great performances today but the one player that really stood out was our forward Brad Monelle who deserved to win todays Man of the Match with his effort and 2 spectacular goals.
